Nelson is an experienced construction & projects lawyer practicing at both the front-end and back-end of the project life cycle. Nelson has acted for a broad range of stakeholders in the construction industry and specialises in acting for principal contractors and subcontractors engaged in small to large scale residential building projects as well as small to medium scale commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects across New South Wales.
At the front-end, Nelson provides advice in relation to risk management, insurance, development approvals, funding, procurement, tenders and WH&S compliance. During project delivery and at the back-end, Nelson advises on dispute prevention, ongoing contract management, defect claims and the effective and efficient resolution to disputes.
Nelson also has an extensive commercial litigation background including corporate insolvency, bankruptcy, professional negligence, competition law, trade practices, corporations and significant property, equity and trusts litigation.
Nelson has lectured in Law at Western Sydney University and has lectured in commercial law, property law, equity and trusts, alternative dispute resolution, planning and environment law and administrative law. He has also served as a director on the board of multiple not for profit organisations. Nelson is also a contributor to the Australian Construction Law Bulletin.
Before working at Eakin McCaffery Cox Nelson was an Associate Director at a boutique Insolvency and Construction law firm in Sydney and prior to that, a Partner in the Sydney office of a National commercial law firm.
